Level I -

Our entry-level, six-week course presents a comprehensive training in the world's most effective holistic mind-body medicine, a system that unites the inherent healing power of the mind, body and spirit. Each week, you'll learn new skills that will positively impact every aspect of life to help boost your immune system and end stress.

Mary Helen Holloway, MT (Daya Mata)

A student at AMI since 2006, Mary Helen is a graduate of  both The American Meditation Institute teacher training program and Meditational Therapist Certification Program. Drawing upon an intuitive understanding of mind-body medicine, Mary Helen currently teaches the introductory level meditation course, actively lectures to civic, medical and religious organizations, serves as Director of Development and is responsible for coordinating all major teaching events at AMI.

 

 

COURSE COMPONENTS:

YOGA SCIENCE (Week 1)
An educational body of knowledge for health and healing
Use the super-conscious mind for the best choices
How to change and create new, healthier habits
Understanding pain as an agent for healing
The transformative power of sacrifice
Increasing energy, will power and creativity
The power of desire and attention
Creative actions rather than reactionary responses
Antidotes for worry, stress and depression

MEDITATION (Week 2)
Systematic procedure for meditation
How to diminish distractions
Training one-pointed attention for creativity and nutrition
Learning to use the mantra and the one-minute meditation
Using meditation skills throughout the day
Building focus, fearlessness, and strength 
 

BREATHING (Week 3) 
The meaning of prana (life force)
Breathing irregularities and dis-ease
Diaphragmatic breathing & pulmonary health
Complete (three-part) yogic breath

EASY-GENTLE YOGA (Week 4) 
Yoga stretches and exercises for:
muscles, joints, glands & internal organs 

 

The Heart and Science of YogaRegistration includes:
A 17-minute Guided Meditation CD, a subscription to "Transformation" AMI's bi-monthly journal of Yoga Science as Mind-Body Medicine and lifetime support for your practice.
