SACRED JOURNEY
Living
Purposefully & Dying Gracefully
Leonard and Jenness Perlmutter

August
26 - September 9, 2009
Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30pm

LEVEL
II: To understand death, we must try
to understand the purpose of life and the
relationship between life and death. The
two are partners -- each providing a context for
the other. Death is not the end, but
merely a pause in an eternal journey. When
birth and death are understood and accepted as
part of the human journey, then the fear of
death disappears and life can be fully lived.
Based on the ancient Katha Upanishad, this
course reveals how and why to organize one's
life in a way that leads to expansion and growth
and that is helpful in preparing for the
transition called death. This
course is recommended for therapists and hospice
workers.

Sunday
Morning Meditation & Satsang
With
Leonard & Jenness
Deepen your spiritual practice by joining
Leonard and Jenness
every Sunday morning for
meditation & satsang.

Home Center, 60 Garner Road, Averill Park
Every
Sunday from 9:30 - 11:00am

What
happens at your Sunday meditation and satsang?
Our seated meditation practice is held in a
relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Each Sunday
morning program includes both a seated
meditation and satsang (a philosophical
discussion led by Leonard and Jenness
Perlmutter). The seated meditation practiced at AMI
is known as mantra meditation. If you do not
currently have a personal mantra, you should
simply sit in a chair with your head, neck and
trunk straight and concentrate your silent
attention on any name of the Divine Reality that
you are most familiar and comfortable with. The
silent seated meditation lasts for about 20
minutes. Participants sit on chairs or cross
legged on the floor. Newcomers are helped in
finding a comfortable seated meditation posture
by experienced members of the community.
Meditation periods begin with the sound of a
bell.
How
should I dress for the meditation session ?
Loose, comfortable clothing is best. Most people
dress casually, as there are no specific
requirements. Shorts are discouraged.
Do
I need to bring anything ?
Just your enthusiasm. Meditation cushions,
blankets and chairs are provided.
Is
there a charge?
No, the Sunday meditation and satsang is free.
However, love donations are always appreciated
to help support all our teaching classes,
workshops and visiting speakers.
What's
Prasad?
Prasad is a Sanskrit word meaning a sweet food
that is first offered to God--and then consumed
with the faith that God has blessed it.
Following the meditation and satsang, everyone
gathers for a brief social hour where tea and
sweets are served.
